Hello League Directors and Summer Baseball Coordinators,

I hope that you are all enjoying the wonderful "Winter Weather" in mid-May and this blast of arctic rain gracing us on Mother's Day Weekend.. Lets hope this is NOT what we can expect for the Summer Baseball Season.

I wanted to provide an update as to the planning of the 20th (not exactly sure when it started) Annual Hopkinton Summer Sizzler Baseball Tournament. I am working on dates for a coaches meeting, but it will likely be the week of June 5th in Hopkinton.

We are tentatively scheduled to open up the tournament on June 12thTuesday and the final Championship games should fall on Sunday, July 15th. During that time, you will play 9 or 10 games to earn a "seeding" into the final week of championship baseball. We will play a single elimination round based upon the number of teams in each division. That means the champions and runner ups will play a total of 11 or 12 games.  The last couple of years, we have received feedback that the 4th of July time frame is tough to schedule games. It's on a Wednesday this year, so we will not have games Wednesday, July 4 through Friday, July 6.

9U:       Players born between 9/1/2008 and 8/31/2009

10U:     Players born between 9/1/2007 and 8/31/2008

11U:     Players born between 9/1/2006 and 8/31/2007

12U:     Players born between 5/1/2005 and 8/31/2006 (16 Months)

As always, I want to thank all of you in advance for your participation and support. Our goal remains consistent with regard to the objectives of the tournament. To have a great time playing a competitive "B Level" tournament where all of the players can continue to develop their baseball skills on the diamond and making new friends in neighboring towns while providing the parents, the coaches and the fans some great baseball to watch.
